WW-School is in Session

Good morning!  How has everyone’s week been so far?  Mine hasn’t been too exciting but I am going to hang out with a friend so I am very excited for that!  But, before I do that, we do have to continue on our journey with Winchester.

Now…I know that this is a little late for school to be starting.  But this is a story and I can make it school time whenever I wish.  So sit back, relax, and enjoy a new Adventure with Winchester!

School is in Session

Winchester sighed as he parked his car in the school parking lot and watched his classmates start to walk inside the school.  He was not excited. He was a senior this year and he couldn’t be more than ready for the year to be over already. He kind of wished he didn’t have to attend classes this year and just work with his dad at the station.  Or maybe he could just skip straight to college; if only that was possible.

He slowly opened his car door and slid out of the driver’s seat.  He saw some new faces as the new freshmen skipped onto the campus; obviously excited about starting high school.  Some of the other students were dragging their feet onto the campus for their first day of school. West shut the driver’s door and followed suit of his fellow classmates.

“Winchester!”

West turned around to see his best friend Cory walk towards him.  He smiled. “Hey dude. How was your summer?”

Cory grabbed West’s hand and shook his hand.  “It was okay. We spent almost the whole summer at the lake which was nice, but there were a couple times where I wished I was back home.  Like…don’t get me wrong I love the lake. But by the end of summer I was ready to be back home.” Cory shrugged. “What about you? How was your summer?”

West started to make his way toward campus from the parking lot.  “It was pretty good actually. I started helping my dad with some of his cases for the police department.  Nothing crazy, but just a little bit of a third party view.”

“Dude!  That’s insane!  You are so lucky!  I wish my dad was part of the police force.”

West shrugged.  “Yeah it’s pretty cool.  I don’t know how much I will work with them, but I really enjoy doing it.  It’s been super fun.”

The two continued to talk as they walked onto the campus.  Cory talked about how boring the lake got after about a month and how he almost got in a skiing accident when a drunk boater almost crashed into him.  They talked about their possible plans for college even though they were barely thinking about it. They had to finish their senior year first.

The bell rang and everyone started heading toward their respective classrooms.  West and Cory walked toward their AP Calculus class to start the year off. It wasn’t West’s favorite subject, but it was a subject that he was good at.  Math came pretty naturally to him so this class was going to be a breeze. They entered the classroom to see their teacher Mr. Cassell standing at the front of the room, ready to teach students everything about calculus.  The boys sat next to each other, waiting for the school year to start.

The second bell rang and the morning announcements came over the intercom.  West listened to see if there was anything interesting that he needed to pay attention to, but there wasn’t.  Mr. Cassell started going over the syllabus for the class when the phone rang. He let out an exasperated sigh.  “Really? We just started.” He walked over and picked up the old phone on the wall. “Mr. Cassell…uh huh…yeah…okay I’ll tell him.”  He hung up the phone by slamming it on the receiver. “Mr. West you are needed in the office. And I was told that you need to take your stuff with you.”

Winchester was confused.  He wasn’t sure what was happening and his immediate thought was something bad had happened to his dad at work.  He quickly gathered his belongings and walked out of the classroom toward the office. West opened the office door and saw his dad standing there.  “Bug! Good, I’m glad you made it down here. I need your help, let’s go.”

“What?”  Winchester wasn’t really sure what was going on.  “Dad..I’m in school. I just started class I can’t leave yet.  How about I come down to the precinct when I’m done with class at 12?  I’ll bring you lunch.”

“That’s not the point Bug.  I need you to come now and see the crime scene to see what you can think of.  We’ve been there since 7:30 am and we have nothing. Come on.” Anthony started making his way toward the door but Winchester stayed behind.  Anthony turned around. “What are you doing? Come on.”

“Dad.  I don’t think you understand.  It’s the first day of school. I literally just sat down in my Calculus class and I would rather not leave a bad impression on all of my teachers.  Can’t I just meet you there after class today?”

Anthony took a step toward his son.  “Winchester. I know this is your first day of school and I know how important your studies are.  But this case is more important than your education.”

He stopped and looked at the secretary who had given him a quizzical side eye.  “Sorry…but..could we possibly use that conference room.”

She shrugged.  “Sure…the door’s open.”

Anthony grabbed Winchester’s arm and dragged him into the small conference room.  “What is wrong with you? You have spent the whole summer helping me and now you don’t want to?  I know you want to do well in school but what is wrong?”

West didn’t know what to say.  “I didn’t think I was going to help you after the summer was over.  Like, not that I don’t like helping you or anything. But dad…you and mom have always told me that school is important.  So I don’t really understand why you are wanting to take me away from school. I can help you, definitely. But can’t it wait until after school?”

The bell rang and both Anthony and West looked out the door toward the lobby.  Anthony sighed and looked back at West. “You are right, you education is very important.  But, the reason I need you to come with me is because Chief Dyner requested it. And…” He leaned in closer to Winchester’s ear.  “Your principal was found dead in his house this morning. So I think that may be just slightly more important than school.”

Soul Mates (Part 3)

Good morning!  It’s Friday!  Does anyone have any awesome plans for this weekend?  I get to see my sister who I haven’t seen in a couple weeks, so that’s exciting!  I cannot wait to see what she has been up to lately!

But in other news, we continue with our Soul Mates series.  I won’t give too many details, so I’ll just end this here and let you read the next part of the Adventure story.  Enjoy!

Soul Mates

To my one and only Love,

You are the wind that pushes me through my day.  You are the reason I wake up in the morning. You are the last thing I think of when I fall asleep.  You are what I daydream of everyday.

You are my perfect partner.  I love you more than anything else.

Love-M

“Where is that shirt?”  Zac flipped through everything in his closet.  He needed a black shirt to wear for his presentation and he couldn’t find a specific black shirt that he looked good in.  “I swear it was just here!”

Damian knocked on the door.  “Are you having problems in here?”

Zac frantically looked at every item in his closet.  “Yeah! I have one black shirt that I look good in for this presentation and I cannot for the love of God find it.  I swear it was in here last night.”

“Maybe Talia has it?”

Zac shook his head.  “No…she only has one of my shirts and it’s a green one because it looks good with her blonde hair.  Plus she would never take a black shirt, she says it’s too gothic for her.”

Damian laughed.  “Yeah I could see her saying that.  Just wear something else. How about grey?  You look good in grey too. It doesn’t make you black hair look as dark.”

Zac grabbed a grey shirt and ripped it off the hanger.  He quickly put it on and took a look in the mirror. “Eh…I guess it will have to do.  I wish I had that black shirt though…” He picked up his backpack and slung it over his shoulder.  He pushed past Damian and out the front door.

Zac walked toward his first class in a confused huff.  How did that black shirt disappear? Maybe it was in laundry.  Or maybe one of the guys took it without asking. Or maybe it was actually at Talia’s place and he didn’t remember.  It was so strange.

A hand grabbed onto his shoulder.  “Hey Mr. Grey Shirt. I thought you only wore black shirts on days that you did presentations?”

Zac planted a kiss on Talia’s lips.  “I normally do. But I cannot for the life of me find my favorite black shirt.  It isn’t at your dorm is it?”

She shook her head.  “No. I only have the one green shirt.  Is it in your laundry?”

“I have no idea.  I swear it was in my closet last night.”

“I couldn’t tell you.  We didn’t go into your dorm last night.”

He sighed.  “Yeah…I know.  I just have no idea.”  They continued on the way to his class.  They parted ways and Zac walked into the classroom and took his seat near the front.  He pulled out his laptop to prepare for his presentation on the history of ancient medicine.  It was hard to clear his head from what happened that morning. What was happening to him?

______________________________________________________________________________

Melanie woke up and smiled.  She remembered that she had his shirts and bottoms from Zac’s room and she was excited.  It was almost like he wanted her to have this.

She reached in the drawer next to her bed and pulled out a photo of Zac from the pool.  He wasn’t wearing a shirt and his swim shorts were pulled down slightly. It was one of her favorite pictures of him.  His chiseled chest, the flat stomach that was starting to form into a 6 pack, his black hair that was messy from being wet, and his strong arm muscles.  He was so smart. He was going to be a doctor. He was going to be her doctor and her husband.

Why wouldn’t he just look at her?  Why wouldn’t he break up with that blonde chick that he was always with.  Maybe she needed to send him a message. But not yet. She needed to wait a while.  She couldn’t be that pushy when it came to love. She knew she was going to wait a while before giving him another letter.  She couldn’t push him away. And if she did, then her whole life would be over.

WW-Interrogation Skills

Good morning!  It’s a Wednesday and we are halfway through the week.  Are we ready for more Winchester?  Are we ready to see what happens after this case?  Are you ready for me to stop asking rhetorical questions?  Let’s move on to this Adventure story and enjoy!

Interrogation Skills

Anthony and Winchester stood next to each other in the small viewing room, watching Mark sitting at the table.  Mark had been sitting there for a while which had given him plenty of time to think. Winchester shook his head.  “Do you think he will give us the information that we want?”

His father shrugged.  “I don’t know. It depends on your interrogation skills.”  He put his hand on Winchester’s shoulder and smiled. “I think you should try your hand at interrogating a suspect.  What do you think?”

West felt like he was going to explode.  “Really? You want me to talk to him? I have no formal training…what am I supposed to do?”

“Just take the information we know and ask him about it.  Double check the facts and if anything seems off, call him out on it.  If I see you struggling I’ll come in and save you.” He looked his son in the eyes.  “I believe in you Bug. I know you can do it. But you have to believe in yourself. Can you do that?”

Winchester nodded.  “Yeah…I can do it.  Thanks dad.” He gave him a quick hug before grabbing the file and making his way into the interrogation room.  Mark looked up from the table and seemed a little confused that a teenager walked into the room. West gave him a slight nod.  “Good afternoon. My name is Winchester West and I am a consultant with the Northridge Police Department.”

Mark let out a very loud sigh.  “I thought I was here to talk to an officer, not a consultant.”

Think Winchester think…  “I am an officer, just consulting with this department to help them out on this case.  So you would be correct in saying that you are talking to an officer.”

Mark leaned back in his chair, seeming satisfied with West’s answers.  “Fine…what can I do for you. Did you find out who killed Brad?”

West sat down in the chair opposite from Mark.  “Not yet. I just wanted to ask you a couple more questions.”  He cleared his throat. “So, is it true that you, Brad, and Stephen all had a small business together?”

Mark nodded.  “Yes. It wasn’t a big thing yet, we were still trying to get everything in order.”

“And…what was this business involving?  Like…what were you planning on doing?”

“Beer.  We wanted to start a brewery and sell our own beers.  Brad had made a couple of beers himself and we all decided to go into business together.  That was actually one of the reasons we had the party was to get some ideas for our business.  It was all going good until Brad was killed.”

Winchester leaned back in his chair.  “Beers huh. Interesting. Did you have any good flavors of beer that you were planning on making?”

Mark shrugged.  “Not really. Not yet at least.  But we were working on a coffee and caramel flavored beer.”

Ew…  “That sounds interesting.  Now, we did get some records showing the contract that all three of you had signed regarding this business.”  West opened the folder in front of him and pulled out the contract, sliding it in front of Mark. “It says here that Brad was getting more money out of the profits than you or Stephen.  That seems kinda strange don’t you think?”

Mark wrung his hands together.  “Uh…not really. Brad put more money into the business to get it started so he would obviously get more out.  I wasn’t upset by that or anything.”

West raised an eyebrow.  “Are you sure? It seems like a substantial amount more that he would be making.  He was making 40% and you and Stephen were each making 30%? That doesn’t seem fair.”

West could see Mark starting to become more nervous.  “But he put more money in, so he should get more out. Seems fair to me.”

“You know what I think?”  West leaned on the table, trying to get a little closer to Mark.  “I think that you all decided to have this party to celebrate your new company.  But you didn’t think it was fair that Brad was going to be making so much more than you.  So, you decided to kill him so that way you would be able to take over the company and run it how you want.  So you picked up one of the weapons and decided to bash in Brad’s head and leave him in the middle of the floor to bleed out.”

“No!”  Mark slammed his hands on the table and stood up.  “That’s not what happened!” He suddenly sat down and buried his head in his hands, knowing full well what he had just said.

Winchester looked over toward the one way glass knowing that his father was giving him the go ahead.  He looked back at Mark who was trying very hard to not lose it. “Why don’t you tell me what happened.”

“I never actually planned on murdering my friend.  I just planned on talking to him about making our percentages more even.  I was thinking something more of 35% for Brad and 32.5% for Stephen and I.  It was going to be more even since we were all putting a lot of work into it.  So I was planning on just talking to him after the murder mystery portion of the party.  But I then I walked out of the library to see him and my wife kissing in the ballroom. They were having an affair right in front of my own eyes and I hadn’t seen it before.  So I picked up the first weapon that I found and confronted Brad. Amy was gone but Brad was still in the ballroom. So when he wasn’t paying attention I rushed up behind him and bludgeoned him in the back of the head with the candlestick.”  Mark shook his head. “I was just…I was so angry. I didn’t know how long this affair had been going on but I was just so flabbergasted that I had missed this and I hadn’t paid attention to it.”

Winchester sat there in shock for a moment before regaining his composure.  “But this was your best friend. You didn’t think that just a confrontation would suffice?”

Mark looked at the table and glumly shrugged.  “I think my rage just took over and I couldn’t think clearly.  I wish that it hadn’t…I wish he was still alive.”

Wincester stood up getting ready to leave the room.  “I think you knew what you were doing during the act.  And now you are remorseful because you know you are going to jail.  But I’m sure you wish that your best friend was still alive.” He left the room to the sound of Mark crying in the interrogation room.

A Guest is a Guest

Good morning!  Did everyone have a good weekend?  I had the past two days off from work so it’s been nice to have some time to sit down and write.  So that’s been wonderful!

This story is based off of a true story from my mom.  She told me about this and I knew that I had to write about it.  I don’t want to give too much away,  but I promise that it was a happy ending.  So without further ado, I hope you enjoy this Feel Good Story!

A Guest is a Guest

A Guest is a Guest

It was almost 5 o’clock and I still hadn’t taken the dogs for a walk.  It wasn’t a difficult job…okay…it was kind of difficult. There were 4 of them after all.  I had to walk them in pairs: Ellie and Mango together and Remi and Moxie together. And even though I had gotten off work much earlier that day, I had a hair appointment that took much longer than I was intending it to.

So I decided I had to take them.  All four of them would be greatly disappointed if they didn’t go on a walk.  I gathered up my leashes and harnesses for Remi and Moxie and ushered them into the garage to get them ready to go.  They bounced off the ground with each step, more and more eager to pull me through the neighborhood. They were obviously excited.

I shut the door from my laundry room to the garage and knelt down to get them harnessed up.  Then something fell. My head spun, what was that? I didn’t know where it came from or what actually fell.  I slowly stood up to get a better look and saw a long black tail scurry across the woodworking table.

“If that was a rat…I’m going to scream.”

I slowly inched forward toward the woodworking bench.  My arm slowly extended out and I held my breath as I reached for the box that the animal was hiding behind.  My fingers tapped the box before gripping it and moving it away from the corner.

And there sat the cutest calico kitten I had ever seen.

“Oh…hi baby.”  The kitten meowed at me, confused about what was going on.  Remi and Moxie started barking, unsure of what was taking me so long and why we hadn’t left for their walk yet.  I slowly reached over the box and picked up the kitten. She was tiny, barely bigger than my hand. And then the dogs lost their minds.  “Oh stop it. It’s just a cute little baby.” I brought her inside and closed her in the laundry room so the other dogs wouldn’t see her.  What was I going to do?

I finally got the dogs out of the garage and we started on our parade through the quiet neighborhood.  Or…quiet until my dogs walked through. I didn’t know what to do with this kitten. I didn’t want to leave her out for the night but I had to think of all of the dogs too.  I had to find a place to put her. Did I even have any cat litter?

Once Remi and Moxie had pulled me through the neighborhood, I knew I had to figure something out for the kitten.  I opened the garage door and realized I had a large dog crate for Remi when she was little. It took me a moment to remember where it was, but as I scanned the wall I saw it.  Up on the top shelf.

“Well shoot.  I guess I need a ladder.”  I turned around to find a stepstool and careful climbed up to get the crate down.  I unfolded the crate and set it a short distance away from the door so that way I could get the kitty out of the laundry room and into the crate and away from the dogs.  So I slowly opened the door and quickly scooped up the kitty and placed her in the crate before having to corral all of the dogs inside.

“Guys.”  I made all of the dogs sit on the floor in front of me.  “Now…we have a guest who is currently in the garage and we are to make her feel welcome.  Okay?” Moxie barked and wagged her tail at me. “Thank you Moxie. I’m glad we can agree.” The other dogs just sat there staring at me.  “Okay, I’m glad we had this meeting. Now Ellie and Mango, let’s go for our walk.”

I brought the crate with the kitten inside the laundry room before taking Ellie and Mango out for their walk.  While walking the dogs I had to decide what I was doing with the kitten. I couldn’t keep her, I had 4 dogs of my own and 2 cats.  I had no room in my house for another kitty. But I couldn’t just let her go; who knows what would happen to her.

When I got back home I had made a decision.  I knew I wasn’t going to be able to keep her, but I couldn’t throw her out of my house during the night.  I gathered the dogs inside and grabbed my car keys. I was at least going to keep the kitty comfortable while she was here overnight and sleep on what to do next.

Soul Mates (Part 2)

Good morning!  It’s Friday, it’s the weekend and I am ready for my days off from work.  I have some plans to go walking (exciting I know), but it is always nice to be outside in nature for a while.

We continue on our Adventure with Zac and Melanie.  Will they actually meet?  Will Zac break up with Talia?  Continue reading to find out!  Enjoy!

Soul Mates

“99…100…ugh.”  Zac laid on the floor of his room.  100 pushups was harder than he remembered.  “I have to work out more.” There was a knock on his door.  “Come…in.”

Talia cautiously came through the door.  “Oh good. I thought I was disturbing you.”

Zac rolled over on his back.  “Oh…yeah…no…I’m just very out of breath from pushups.

Talia closed and locked the door.  She walked over and sat down next to him on the floor, sitting on the floor facing Zac’s face.  “I found this taped to your door.”

Zac grabbed the envelope she was holding and saw the same writing as the previous one.  He groaned. “What is this?” He quickly read through it and threw it to the side. “At least they signed this one.”

Talia frowned.  “What’s her name?”

“Well…I don’t even know it’s a girl.  I’m just assuming it is because of the writing.  But this one is signed M. So maybe her name is something like Maddie or Madison.”

“Okay…so now you have a lover?”

Zac shook his head.  “Definitely not, but I’m not sure what to think.  It’s kinda worrying actually.”

Talia tilted her head.  “Why are you worried? This isn’t going to get between us is it?”

He sat up and put both hands on her shoulders.  “No! Of course this isn’t going to get between us.  We are a power couple. Nothing can get between us. Not these dumb letters.  Not our friends. Nothing. Do you understand?”

She smiled shyly.  “Of course I understand baby.  I just don’t want to see you hurt.  So let’s think about this reasonably and responsibly okay?”

He hugged her.  “Yes, definitely.  We will stay level headed about it.”  He stood up and kissed her on the top of her head.  “I’m gonna shower and then I need to work on my project.  I was going to go to the library again. You can join me if you want.”

“Maybe for a while.  I have dance practice at 3 so maybe I’ll come study and keep you company until 2.  Would that be okay?”

Zac smiled.  “It would be an honor to study next to you my lady.  Why don’t we meet in the library in 30 minutes. I’ll grab a pizza on the way for fuel.”

Talia slowly stood up.  “You know…for someone who is studying to be a doctor, you really don’t eat that great.”

“What can I say?  I’m a doctor, not a nutritionist.  So for now, pizza and soda.”

Talia left and Zac got ready.  He grabbed his backpack and all of his things and headed out the door.  After a quick pit stop at the campus Little Caesars, he headed to the library where he would probably spend the rest of the day.

After a couple hours of studying, Zac got up to take a break.  Talia was there to watch his belongings as he walked around. He walked up the stairs, around the top story, and the back down.  As he was walking back to his study space something caught his eye.

A girl.  She had long dark hair and was hiding behind a phone.  But she seemed odd. Almost like she was trying to take pictures of Zac.  Was she sitting there the entire time he was there?

Zac sat down.  “Hey…has that girl been sitting there the whole time we have?”

Talia looked up.  “Which one?”

“The one with the long dark hair.  She’s holding her phone up, it has a black phone case.”

Talia shook her head.  “Babe I couldn’t tell you.  I haven’t really been paying attention.”

“Okay.  I’m hoping she isn’t M and is taking pictures of me.”

“I think you might be overreacting.”

Zac sat back in his chair.  “Yeah…probably.”

______________________________________________________________________________

Melanie sat eagerly at her printer.  She took so many photos of Zac in the library.  But he noticed her! That was the exciting part.  He saw her while he was studying. It was meant to be.

She pulled the 5 new pictures off the printer and put 4 of them in the photo album.  The fifth one was a photo of him and his “girlfriend”. She wasn’t his girlfriend. Melanie was.  They were meant to be together.

Melanie grabbed a sharpie and scribbled out the blonde chick’s face.  Melanie wasn’t concerned about what her name actually was. She didn’t matter.  It was Melanie. It was all about Melanie.

As she sat at her desk she looked out the window to see Zac walking.  She gasped and ran out the door. As soon as she got outside she went straight to the sidewalk and followed behind Zac.  He had no idea that she was following him. It was perfect. Melanie could feel the positive energy between them even though she followed from a distance.

Once Zac reached his dorm building she stayed further behind.  She knew which dorm was his, she just wasn’t sure which room. She watched the windows to see him inside.  And then it happened! She saw him in a window. He took his shirt off and grabbed another from the closet.  It was his room and she had to get in there.

Melanie decided to wait it out to see if Zac would leave.  She watched him put on a nice shirt and spray some cologne.  He walked out the bedroom door. Melanie hid behind a tree to make sure she could see him leave.  She saw him walk out of the building, kiss the blonde chick who had been waiting, and start walking toward the parking structure.

It was time.

Melanie climbed a tree that was close to his window.  She gingerly made her way out onto the branch that was closest to the window.  Without issue, she was able to take the screen off and slide the window open. And with one foul swoop, she was in Zac’s room.

It was perfect.  She laid down on his bed to take in all of his smell.  She looked at all of his belongings, taking note of everything.  Melanie opened the closet and found her favorite red shirt which she gladly took.  She then grabbed two more shirts, a blue one and a black one, both very simple shirts that smelled like Zac.   She took a pair of basketball shorts that were definitely too big for her, but she didn’t care. He left them there for her as gifts.  And she was finally able to appreciate them.

She picked up the cologne and sprayed her new gifts.  She folded everything and held it under her arm to take back to her dorm.  She put everything back the way it was and got down the tree. She made her way back to her dorm so she could dress herself in his gifts to her.

As soon as she arrived back, she locked herself in her room.  She quickly undressed and slowly slid into Zac’s clothes. She put on the red shirt and sighed.  It was too big for her but she didn’t care. She was planning on just sleeping in it and thinking of Zac in her dreams.  She slowly stepped into the basketball shorts and it just felt right.

She put another shirt over her pillow as a pillowcase.  She wanted to feel his shirt on her face as she slept, be able to smell him as she drifted off to sleep.  Melanie laid down in her bed and started to squeal. This was how everything was supposed to work. This is how her life was going to work out.

WW-Business Partners

Good morning!  It’s Hump Day!  It’s Wednesday and I am already ready for Friday.  I cannot wait until the weekend where I will have 2 days off to get some writing done.  Hooray!

And we continue on with Winchester Wednesdays.  It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, and it’s a new part of the story.  So hold onto your hats as we continue on this Adventure story.  Enjoy!

Business Partners

36 hours had passed since Brad Everhart was murdered and they were finally getting some of their evidence back.  The candlestick didn’t bring any leads except for the blood belonging to Brad.  There wasn’t a single fingerprint on it meaning the murderer was careful. Same with the knife, not a single fingerprint.  Every person from the party had been interviewed and nothing crazy had come up in their testimonies.

Winchester sat on the table in the conference room with his feet on one of the chairs.  His father paced up and down the room, spouting off random questions to think about. Anthony was getting angrier and angrier with every dead end.  “What about the wife? Is there anything suspicious between her and any of the men?”

“No dad.  Unless either Mark or Stephen is lying then there is nothing.  Both have expressed wonderful relationships with their wife which their wives have reciprocated.”

“What about the other wives?  Either of them lying?”

“No dad…we’ve already explored all of these options.”  Winchester rubbed his forehead with his fingers. “We’re at a dead end.  I don’t know what else to explore.”

Anthony threw his hands in the air.  “There has to be something! Brad Everhart wouldn’t be murdered for no reason.  There has to be a reason. Was there anything with their businesses?”

Winchester sighed as he picked up the information on the men’s businesses.  “Dad…I’ve looked through everything.”

There was a knock on their door.  “Officer West and uh…” She paused trying to find the right name to call him.  “Winchester. I have the documents from Mr. Everhart’s business office that you wanted.”

Winchester stood up and grabbed the papers from her.  “Thanks. This is awesome.” He started flipping through the pages to see if there was anything out of place.  Suddenly he stopped and his eyebrow cocked. “Wait…I might have found something.”

Anthony stopped in his tracks and looked over at his son.  “What is it?”

“I feel like I have seen this before but I don’t 100% remember.  Did you know that the men had small company together? It doesn’t look like it’s too big yet, like still in the planning phase.  But it says here that Brad was supposed to be making a higher percentage than the other men. Not much, but enough. He was getting 40% while the others were getting 30% each.  It could’ve been because Brad was putting more money into the company so he could be getting more out of the sales.” He looked at his dad. “Do you remember them saying anything about this?  Could it have been one of the men trying to get more money out of the company?”

Anthony sat down in a chair to think.  “I don’t remember them saying anything about this other business.  We also didn’t ask about it because it isn’t public knowledge. How did you see it anyway?”

“This uh…contract?”  He held up a handwritten paper with the signatures of all three of the men at the bottom.  It laid out the details for the small beer business that wasn’t too far off the ground. “Do you remember anything about beer at the murder mystery party?”

Anthony shook his head.  “Not that I remember. Why?”

“Well apparently they were starting a beer business.  Or a brewery I guess. But I’m wondering if they had their beer at the party to taste.  Maybe something happened between the men over the beer?”

“I’m not sure.  This is definitely an avenue to look down.”

Winchester sat back far enough that he was laying on the table.  He looked up at the ceiling, trying to make sense of this new information.  “Literally the only thing I can think of is that either Mark or Stephen was upset about not having a higher percentage.  I don’t think that it would’ve or could’ve been any of the wives.” Suddenly he sat up. “What if Brad was having an affair with either Amy or Pamela?  What if their husband found them making out or something and then bashed his head in with the candlestick? That’s very possible, don’t you think?”

Anthony reached for the evidence box and started looking through the files.  He found the testimonies and read it. “So according to Mark, he and Amelia both walked into the ballroom at the same time.  But his pattern doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. He said he walked from the library, to the ballroom, to the conservatory, and then to the kitchen.  But wouldn’t he have had to pass through the ballroom to get to the kitchen? How would he have not seen the body?”

“Or maybe he went up to the conservatory, like he said, but he grabbed the candlestick and came back downstairs to kill Brad.  Do we have a map or something that shows where all of the items were hidden?”

Anthony dug through the evidence box again to find a map.  He gently pulled it out of the box and looked at it. “Okay…so the candlestick wasn’t in the ballroom or the conservatory.  It was in the library…what?”

Winchester leaned back so he was laying on the table.  “So the candlestick was in library…do you think it was possible for Mark to have gone into the library and as he was leaving he saw whatever happened, grabbed the candlestick, and walked into the ballroom and killed Brad.  Then he walked into the kitchen and came back when Amelia walked in. What if he never went to the conservatory? But how would have Amelia have gone into the library without seeing her husband’s dead body?”

“There was an entrance from study to the library.  So it was very possible for Amelia to enter the library without seeing the body.”

“That would give Mark plenty of time to kill his friend and leave the body.  And the worst part, or best part depending on which side you are looking at, is that no one else from the party can confirm his story.  Granted it was a murder mystery party so they were all investigating, but no one saw him go into any of the rooms? That seems very unlikely.”

Anthony stood up.  “I think we need to get Mark here to get more answers.”

Good morning!  How did everyone’s weekend go?  I was actually able to sit down and get some writing done which was fantastic.  And this is one of the stories that got written that I am sharing with you today.

This story is an Adventure, so I hope you enjoy!

“Can we have some order in here please?”  The judge banged her gavel against the stand to quiet everyone who was in the courtroom.  Baylor sat with his head in his hands, still not sure of what was going to happen at the end of the day.  His life was at risk here for something that he didn’t do. And no one would believe him if he told the truth.

Every person in the courtroom had erupted into a huge commotion about a piece of evidence that was just brought up.  According to the witness, Baylor had driven up to the store, stormed in, and drew a gun and demanded money. According to the witness Baylor had held up the store at gunpoint and stolen over $1000 before killing the cashier and running out the door.

But…Baylor didn’t go into the store that night.

He couldn’t lie, he had been at the robbery that night.  But he didn’t go inside the store. He was only the driver and he was in the car the whole time.  He fled the scene as soon as his accomplice got into the car. They drove away as fast as they could, hoping that they wouldn’t be caught.  But unfortunately it didn’t happen that way.

Baylor sat behind the table and was ready to let the police him to jail.  He was given a plea deal if he gave up his accomplice, but he wasn’t sure if he wanted to do that or not.  So he didn’t. Baylor was willing to take all of the blame since it was his car and everyone thought he was the one who did it.  He was the one responsible.

The judge hit her gavel against the stand again and everyone quieted down.  She looked at the prosecuting attorney with a solemn look on her face. “Do you have any other questions for witness?”

The attorney shook his head.  “No ma’am. That is it for now.”  He sat down behind his side of the table, shooting a nasty glace at Baylor.

Baylor’s attorney grabbed his arm.  “I’m sorry Baylor. I don’t know how we will win this.”

He let out a sigh.  “I…I need to get on the stand.  I have something that I would like to say…please.”

“I don’t think that’s a good idea Baylor.  We are trying to get you the least amount of time for you in jail.”

Baylor turned and looked at his attorney.  “Please. Please let me do this.”

His attorney sighed and slowly stood up.  “Your honor, I would like to call a witness to the stand.”  The judge gave a slight nod, allowing him to do so. “I would like to call Baylor Hanson to the stand.”

The audience gasped and started to murmur amongst each other.  Baylor slowly stood up and the bailiff led him to the witness stand.  He sat down and his hands were uncuffed from the handcuffs. He placed one hand on the Bible before agree to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.  Baylor nervously tapped his foot on the stand as he waited for his attorney to ask him questions.

Attorney Gong walked up toward the witness stand with a slightly confused look on his face.  “Mr. Hanson. Could you please tell me what you were doing on the night of the 17th of April.”

Baylor let out a sigh.  “I…I planned a robbery with my brother Brandon at Martin’s Grocery.”  He slowly lifted his head to see his brother stand up and try to make his way out of the courtroom, only to be stopped by the officers in the back.  “I did not want to take a part of the robbery but Brandon finally convinced me that nothing bad would happen. All I needed to do was drive the car to Martin’s and he would take care of the rest.  So that’s what I did.”

He looked past Mr. Gong and saw an officer slowly getting closer to Brandon, who had returned to his seat.  Mr. Gong sat against the table and look at Baylor in the eye. “So all you had to do was drive the car?”

“Yes sir.  Brandon doesn’t have a driver’s license so he asked if I could drive him there.”

“And you didn’t think you would get in trouble?”

Baylor shrugged.  “I don’t know. I thought that Brandon would take the blame for the robbery since he actually did the robbery.  But instead I got all the blame put on me.” The audience was dead silent as they waited to see how Baylor was going to answer.  “I didn’t expect Brandon to kill anyone. I actually didn’t know he had a gun. He just told me to park the car and wait until he came back.  So I sat back and suddenly the door opened and Brandon slid back in the seat. He handed me $500 and said he wasn’t able to take much more than that.  And we drove home.”

Mr. Gong stood up and started pacing around the courtroom.  “Did it ever occur to you that you were doing something wrong?”

“Yeah I did.  But I knew that Brandon had done it before and he hadn’t been caught.  So I trusted him.”

“So why did you take the blame?  Why didn’t you tell anyone that you weren’t in the store?”

Baylor took a long breath.  “Because…I didn’t want my little brother to go to jail.  As your older brother you are supposed to protect your younger siblings.  You sometimes take the blame so your siblings are still safe. So that’s what I was going to do.  Brandon is still a minor and I couldn’t imagine him spending the rest of his life in jail. When he blamed me, I thought it was actually the best decision.  I was willing to take the blame so he could still live a normal life.”

“So what changed your mind?”

Baylor had to close his eyes and trust himself.  He knew what he was going to say would tear his family apart but he had to tell the truth.  After all, he did swear on the Bible. “I have decided that I have to be a big brother and teach my younger brother a lesson.  I can’t always take the blame for him and try to cover his tracks. I need my brother to know right from wrong, something that I haven’t been very good at teaching him so far.  I want my brother to finally learn his lesson and stand up for himself for once. I’m tired of making sure that he is safe even when my life is at risk. So Brandon.” Baylor stood up and pointed at his brother.  “I don’t care if you hate me for the rest of your life but you need to take your own blame. I can’t always protect you and I am putting my foot down.”

The whole audience erupted as Brandon was arrested in the courtroom.  The judge banged her gavel multiple times to try to create some sort of order but it didn’t work very well.  Baylor sat down in his chair as Mr. Gong came toward him and tried to tell Baylor something, but they couldn’t hear each other.

Baylor still wasn’t sure how he should feel about this situation.  He was upset that it had to come to this, but he was glad to get everything off of his chest.  He wasn’t the one to blame, it was Brandon. Baylor knew his life and Brandon’s life would never be the same after today, all because of what Baylor said under oath.

Soul Mates (Part 1)

Good morning everyone!  Did everyone have a good week?  I am so glad that today is Friday because I am totally ready for the weekend.

Today we start a new series here on the blog.  This one was different for me, it isn’t something that I would normally write.  But it was fun to see what I could come up with as I was trying something different.  I don’t want to give away too many details because I want you to see what the story is all about!  This story is an Adventure and I hope you enjoy!

Soul Mates

Zac sat in the library, his head in his hands.  He had been sitting there all day trying to get a project done but it felt like he had been there for years.  His laptop sat on the desk surrounded by fast food bags and Starbucks cups. Friends had come and gone while he sat there.

“Hey hot stuff.”

Zac turned to see his girlfriend Talia standing behind him.  He smiled before giving her a kiss. “Hey baby. How are you?”

She sat down in the chair next to his.  “Not bad. I was wondering if you were going to come stay at my dorm tonight.  Or if you were going to be here for all hours.”

Zac stretched and looked at the time.  “Geez! It’s almost midnight! I didn’t realize I was here for so long.”  He rubbed his face. “Uh…no. I think I’m gonna stay at my place. Sorry.  I really need to sleep and work on this tomorrow. This project is taking way too long to finish.”

Talia wrapped her arms around Zac and rested her head on his shoulder.  She sighed. “Too bad. We could’ve had some fun.”

“I know babe.  But this project is worth half of my grade for this class and I really need to get a head start on it.”

She kissed his cheek.  “I know. You’re always so studious.  I love that about you.” She stood up and picked up some of Zac’s trash to throw away on her way out of the library.  “We need to get a hotel room when this semester is over. It would be much more fun.”

Zac started packing up his things.  “Yeah maybe. Maybe after finals. But for now I will walk you to your dorm room before heading to mine.”

They quickly packed up and started toward the door.  They walked hand and hand through the darkness toward the dorms.  The school wasn’t that big so the dorms weren’t too far away from the library.  The air had a chill in it from the early October night. Not many students were still awake at this hour so campus was very quiet, eerily quiet.  The few light posts that led the way to the dorms were bright, giving the sidewalk small little spotlights showing them the way.

Once they arrived at the dorms, Zac walked Talia to her room.  They kissed outside the door before going their separate ways. Zac walked in silence to his dorm, a room he shared with 3 other boys.  He had his own separate room which was nice, but it was nice to see his friends also.

He walked in the door to find one other guy awake.  Damian was sitting at the table eating a bowl of cereal.  Damian waved. “Hey bro. You up late studying again?”

Zac nodded.  “Yeah. I’m going to bed.  G’night.”

“Hey before you go to bed, this letter was under the door.  It’s addressed to you but I have no idea what it is.” Damian handed Zac an envelope with a nicely written ‘Zac’ on the front.

Zac frowned.  “Huh…I wonder if Talia left this for me.  But I just saw her and she didn’t say anything.”  He walked toward his room. “Thanks man. Have a good night.”

He threw his backpack on the bed and sat next to it.  He carefully opened the letter and read it.

To my love
You are the light that shines in the morning.  You are the brightest part of my day. You mean more to me than you will ever know.  I love you more than I love anything else. I love you.

Zac snickered.  He pulled out his phone and text Talia.  Thanks for the cheesy love letter!

He didn’t have to wait long when his phone buzzed.  I didn’t send you anything…what are you talking about?

Zac froze.  If Talia didn’t leave the love letter, then who is it from?

Melanie sat in her dorm room and sighed.  Zac was perfect. He was the perfect guy. No one could say anything different.  She was going to marry him one day. Maybe not soon, but someday.

She had a small photo album of photos of Zac.  The time he came out of the library wearing her favorite red shirt.  The time he was paying attention in class and she was waiting outside for him.  The time he was with some of his friends in his sexy lab coat. The time he was sitting on a bench talking on the phone to his mom, letting him know how awesome school was.

She had a cup that he drank from, a pair of sunglasses he had left behind, and a small cut of hair she collected from his head.  It was all so special and he always left things for her to find.

Was she in love?  Definitely. After all, they were meant to be together.  She left him a letter under his door showing her affection for him.  He would surely leave one for her too.

Melanie laid on her bed, staring up at the ceiling.  She had been lying there for a while but the thought of Zac was keeping her awake.  Maybe if she wrote Zac another letter and left it for him, maybe that would help her sleep.

“Yeah…that should work.”

She rolled on her side and turned on her lamp.  She slowly rolled off the bed and walked over to her desk.  As she sat in the chair, Melanie pulled out some of her favorite stationary and her favorite pen to write.

Maybe she would be able to relax after expressing her love to him.

To Zac

You are the best thing that has ever happened to me.  I will do anything for you. Anything to make you happy.  You deserve to be happier than ever. You deserve to be the happiest person ever.  No one will ever make you as happy as I can.

I want to kiss you.  I want to hold your hand.  I want to walk next to you as we take a long walk through the town.  I want to eat and drink with you. I want to feel your warmth as we embrace.  You are my everything and I want you to know that.

I love you more than I love myself.  I will never let anything stand between you and me.  We are destined to be together forever.

WW-Clue

Good morning everyone!  I hope you all had a wonderful long weekend and I hope you were able to spend some extra time with your loved ones.  I was able to spend some time out in nature with a friend and then spend some time with family.  So all in all, it was a great Labor Day!

We are continuing our series with Winchester as we see if he can help solve another murder.  What happened to Colonel Mustard?  Was he actually stabbed in the ballroom?  Keep reading this Adventure story to find all the answers.  Enjoy!

Clue

“Wait?  Is his name actually Colonel Mustard like from the game Clue?”  Winchester was very confused. What were the odds of his name actually being Colonel Mustard?

“His name is Brian Everhart and he was playing Colonel Mustard tonight at the murder mystery dinner party.”  Anthony pointed to 5 other people who were dressed up like the other title characters from Clue. He shook his head.  “It was 3 couples who were all dressed up as separate characters. Brad’s wife Amelia is Mrs. Peacock over there.”

West nodded.  “Okay…who’s everyone else?”

Anthony pointed.  “Uh Miss Scarlett and Professor Plum are Pamela and Stephen Jones.  And Mrs. White and Mr. Green are Amy and Mark Busch. This house belongs to Mr. and Mrs. Jones and all three of the husbands are business buddies.  The Jones’ set up this party as a fun get together where there was a fake murder, played by the Jones’ daughter Ella. But after they started doing their investigating, they started to notice that Mr. Everhart was not present and they found him here in the ballroom with the knife in his back.”

“But there’s so much blood by his head.  He wouldn’t have bled out of his head if he was killed by stabbing.  What did Lacey say?”

“Lacey says that it was actually blunt force trauma to his head.”  West and Anthony turned around to see Lacey walking up to them. “He was hit in the back of the head with something and it was covered up with his hat.  The murderer then stabbed him with a knife after he died to make it look like a stabbing. Unfortunately the large puddle of blood from the victims head says different from a stab wound.”

Anthony wrote that down in his notebook.  “Can you tell what did the damage?”

Lacey shook her head.  “Not yet. I would need to see if I could pull any fibers out of the wound.”

“Well…if it’s like Clue, they would’ve used a candlestick, a leadpipe, or a wrench.  Those are all weapons in the game.” Winchester looked over at the body. “They also used the knife but I’m surprised that they didn’t use the rope or the gun.  I guess the blunt force could’ve come from the butt of the gun as well.”

“Objection!”  Anthony and West looked at Lacey as if she was crazy.  “Sorry. I just feel like we are in the game. It wasn’t from a gun.  The wound is long so it’s most likely from the candlestick or the lead pipe.  But we will need to examine all of the items.”

Anthony led West over to the people the officer who had taken statements from the people who were in attendance.  Anthony smiled. “Anything unusual?”

The officer nodded.  “Yeah…the wife, Mrs. Peacock over there, seemed a little, uh…overdramatic?  Like, I understand that you husband died but she seemed so hysterical. I kind of got a feeling that she was putting on an act.  Everyone else seemed pretty shocked about the whole situation.”

West looked over at Mrs. Peacock, who was sitting on the floor in a pile of tears.  She was very hysterical, just as the officer had described. West walked over to her and squatted down next to her.  “Excuse me ma’am. Are you okay?”

She lowered her hands from her face, revealing her tearstained face.  She sniffled. “No I’m not okay. My husband was murdered during a dinner party where we were supposed to have fun.  And now I have to go home and tell our kids that their dad is never coming home.” She covered her face again as the tears started flowing again.

West put his hand on her shoulder.  “It’s okay. We will figure out who killed your husband.”  He sat down on the floor next to her so they were on the same level.  “Do you have any idea who would’ve wanted to hurt your husband?”

She shook her head fervently.  “No…everyone loved Brad. He was the CEO of his own company with Stephen and Mark were buddies of his.  We have all spent so much time together that their kids were like our kids. We were basically one big happy family.”

Winchester nodded.  “So who found your husband?”

“Me and Mark.  We both walked into the ballroom at the same time and saw Brad laying in the middle of the floor with a knife in his back.  We both screamed and everyone came running. That’s when we called the police.”

“So where did you come from?  Like which entrance did you enter through to get to the ballroom?”

Amelia pointed to the door behind her.  “I came from the library.”

He mentally took a note of that.  “Was anyone else in the library with you at that time?”

She shook her head.  “No. I was there by myself trying to find a clue for our murder mystery party.  But I didn’t find anything.”

“Thank you, that’s all I need for now.  I’m so sorry for your loss again.” He stood up and walked over back over to his dad and Lacey.  “She is obviously distraught and I don’t think she has something to do with it.”

Another officer walked over to the group.  “I think I found the murder weapon, you may want to come see it.”  They all walked into the kitchen to see a candlestick sitting in the kitchen sink.  It looked like it had been washed off but there was still some blood on the top of it.  The officer pointed at it. “I’m not sure if that’s the victim’s blood or fake blood. But it’s very conspicuous that it’s in the sink.”

Anthony nodded.  “Bag it. We will need to look at it closer at the office.  Especially to decide if it has something to do with the murder.”
