I’m Back!

Good morning!  It’s a new year and a new decade!  How crazy is that?

So I am here to tell you that I do not have a new story yet.  I can already here some of you saying You had 3 weeks to write stuff! And I know…I know…  I definitely had time.

But as I celebrated my Christmas and did things with my family, I came to a small realization.  I started this blog in March and I have written a lot of stories (sorry I didn’t count).  And though I had a lot of fun doing it, it was getting a little tedious towards the end.

I wanted to start this blog to put stories that I had written just to share with the world.  But towards the end of last year I was getting tired while trying to keep up with my goals for myself.  I did (mostly) keep up with 3 stories every week.

So I have decided that this year, I am still going to post stories, but maybe not as consistently.  I still want to post stuff, but only stuff that I am happy with.  Unfortunately, I can’t give you a timeline of how often I will be posting, but again, I want to have fun while doing it.

Apologies in advance if you were hoping for 3 new stories every week again.  Again, I will still be posting, I just don’t know how often it will be.  Thank you guys for reading this and thank you for being a part of this blog.

J is for Justice

Hello!  Welcome back!  I hope you are ready for the next blog post in the A to Z Blogging Challenge.  If you missed the last blog post, definitely go read that one.  Click here, or you will be very confused in reading today’s installment.

For this story, I am participating in the A to Z Blogging Challenge.  I felt that this was a really good opportunity for me to not only express my creativity, but challenge myself to building a very long story that could be cut up into multiple parts.  And for it all to make sense!  So if you want to follow along with other blog posts in the challenge, check the hashtag #AtoZchallenge to follow along.

This story would be categorized as Dark.  Thank you so much and I will see you tomorrow for the next installment.  Enjoy!

Justice for Jacob

The family of Jacob Barstow is devastated at the news that his killer, ex-girlfriend Aspen Thompson, has escaped from Springstone State Prison.  She escaped with 8 other inmates, all of who have been recovered.  The family heard of Thompson’s escape shortly after the event.

Megan Barstow, Jacob’s mother, was willing to speak to us regarding Aspen’s escape.  Barstow was not only shocked but distraught to hear the news. “She took our son away.  She a brother away.  She took a friend away.  She did so much damage with that one bullet.”

Jacob’s father, Nathaniel Barstow, was also rattled by the news.  “She should’ve been watched more carefully.  That girl is insane and needs a lot of help.  But even if she got all the help in the world and get better, but none of those things will help bring our son back.  Nothing will be able to bring my Jacob back.”

When speaking with officers from the prison, they stated that Thompson did not seem like the kind of prisoner to escape.  Officer Vertes spoke highly of Thompson, saying that she was a model inmate.  “Thompson was smart.  She never got into any trouble and really kept to herself while she was inside.  But when the escape plan happened, she took advantage of it.  She was sneaky, finding ways around the cameras and out into the yard before climbing up the fence and into the forest.  We sent officers into the forest but she was never found.”

The escape plan was put into action by Raven ‘Missi’ Moreno.  She worked in the library and according to officers, she found a way to open all of the doors and turn off the cameras for everyone to escape.  Officers were not made aware of the hack until all of the inmates started to escape.  Out of the 9 inmates who escaped from Springstone, Thompson is the only one who hasn’t been recovered.

The Barstow family has asked everyone to keep an eye out for Thompson.  They have asked anyone who has any information to please contact their local police department.  Authorities say they aren’t sure if Thompson is still in town or if she has traveled further away, but they say any information on her whereabouts would be greatly appreciated.  The Barstow family is also offering a small cash reward for any useful information.  All they are asking for is justice for Jacob.

What Do I Write?

Hello to everyone.  I wanted to give a little summary of the different kinds of stories I like to write.  I like trying all different story styles, but I understand some people may not enjoy certain stories.  So here’s what I like.

I actually really enjoy writing dark stories.  One of my friends actually asked me one time if I had ever written a happy story (the answer is yes but I had only sent her dark stories to read).  These are stories that usually involves some sort of problem that may be a touchy subject to some people.  Do not worry, I will always forewarn you if there is a possible touchy subject in the story.  These also tend to be a little bit creepy so I suggest not reading these before going to bed!

I will come out and say right away that I do not believe in ghosts.  But, it is a lot of fun to write stories about ghosts.  Ghosts can do absolutely anything!  There’s nothing stopping them from floating through a wall and scaring someone.  And nothing can hurt them, they are already dead.  Most of my paranormal stories involve an investigation of some sort from another character.  Sometimes they can be creepy and spooky, other times they are fun and goofy.  It all depends on what the ghosts wants to do!

Feel Good

I usually don’t like happy stories.  Now don’t get me wrong, I am all for a happy ending.  But if it’s too happy, there’s something wrong.  Like…romantic stories put me to sleep.  I like adventure and mystery and everything has to have a problem (hence why I like dark stories).  But, I do try to write one of these every once in a while just to try my hand at it.  And even though some of these stories may have a bit of sadness in them they always make you feel warm and fuzzy at the end of it.

Who doesn’t like a good adventure?  Are they going to make it out of the forest?  Are the characters going to survive as the ship in sinking a mile away from shore?  Who knows!  These are the kinds of stories that keep you on the edge of your seat.  This story will take you on a journey from beginning to end.  It will have highs and low, twists and turns.  But it will always be a good read.  I enjoy adventure stories and these are sometimes the most fun to write.

Now, these are not the only types of stories that I write, but they are the main ones.  Sometimes I write something that just doesn’t fit into any of these categories.  I want to let you know that I will tell you what kind of story you are about to read at the beginning of each story.  That way you can prepare yourself for what you are about to read.  Each theme has it’s own themed header so you know right away.  And feel free to let me know if you have any concerns about a story.  I’m always open to comments and suggestions!

The Journey Begins

Hello!  Thanks for joining me!  I am glad you have joined me on my tiny little blog.  My name is Lauren and I love writing.  I love creating stories and little worlds for you to be a part of.  So welcome!

Where does my name come from?  I have 2 cats, Target and Amelia, who I love to death.  Target is a 3 year old Tuxedo and Amelia is a 2 year old Calico.  They are both rescues and they are my fur babies.  They also always want to be on my keyboard as I am trying to type.  You know, as cats are.

But I like typing on my laptop.  Every once in a while I enjoy writing in a journal (I may also have an addiction to journals).  And my laptop is the perfect compact size that is lightweight and easy to carry around.  And without my laptop I wouldn’t be able to post here.

I hope you enjoy my little piece of creativity.  This is all new for me and I cannot wait to see where this takes us.  Please feel free to give me comments and suggestions in the comments section below!  Thanks for stopping by!
